As the number of collaborations at the intersection of art and research increases, so does the need for infrastructure and support for these interdisciplinary engagements. Enhancing and Supporting Artist-Researcher Collaborations (ARC) is a Mitacs funded study that is designed to help C[4] Art and Research (C[4]), a collaboration between Centre [3] for Artistic and Social Practice and the Community Research Platform, in its pursuit of addressing the challenges and maximizing the potential of art and research partnerships.
C[4] has developed tools and resources intended to facilitate collaborations between artists and researchers (in this context, researchers include folks both inside and outside of academia – i.e. community organizations that are in some way engaged in research). In this study, C[4] intends to share their tools and resources (i.e. Art & Research Partnership Agreement Template and Art & Research Data Management Plan Template), learn about responses to them, and learn about the experiences of artist-researcher pairs in relation to C[4]’s tools and facilitated services.
The research team includes: Cathy Paton (C[4] Director of Art and Research, Post-Doctoral Fellow); Alexe Bernier (Graduate Intern with the CRP); Leora Sas van der Linden (Program Manager of the CRP); Chris Sinding (School of Social Work faculty member); James Gillett (Academic Director of the CRP); Colina Maxwell (C[3] Executive Director); and Sarah Sproule (C[3] Social Practice Coordinator).
