Reintegration Needs of Individuals with Violent Extremism and Hate-Related Convictions

Supporting Safe Reintegration

The John Howard Society of Ontario led a research project examining the reintegration needs of individuals convicted of violent extremism or hate-related offences.

Funded by the Canadian Network for Research on Security, Extremism and Society (CANSES), the project combined a literature and policy review with interviews with frontline professionals, researchers, and policy experts to better understand the reintegration challenges and service needs of this population and to inform evidence-based policy and program development.

CRP undergraduate placement student Anastasia Bowyer supported the project through several key research activities. She contributed to the literature review, and assisted with preparing and conducting interviews with professionals working in the field. Her work helped support the project’s research process and the development of knowledge to strengthen reintegration policy and practice.
